This pre-amp pedal begins where all boost pedals end. It delivers pristine clarity and a full, ultra-lush sound, with the ample frequency content you’ve been dreaming about —harmonic heaven! Your guitar (or other instrument) will sound the best it possibly can using your existing gear, because this circuit delivers everything your instrument wants to deliver (without that annoying “ice pick” that a lot of boost pedals have). The frequency bandwidth of this pedal is much wider than that of competing pedals, allowing for all of the “details” to be preserved and amplified along with the rest of the signal. This preservation effectively “extends the harmonics” when compared to those of other pedals. The harmonic feedback possibilities for your amplifier are greatly expanded, and you can achieve a world of controllable, sustaining, and delicious harmonic feedback at your fingertips. Clipping is very touch-sensitive. The pedal is built to last, using internal circuit protection techniques that protect from heat, liquids, and mechanical forces.

 Jerry Garcia and the “Wolf”

The enclosure design of this pedal was inspired by Jerry Garcia, who was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his work as the lead guitarist and as a vocalist with the band Grateful Dead. Although he disavowed the role, Garcia was viewed by many as the leader or "spokesman" of the group. Garcia was well-noted for his "soulful extended guitar improvisations" which would frequently feature interplay between him and his fellow band members. Garcia's guitar-playing was eclectic. He melded elements from the various kinds of music that influenced him. Echoes of bluegrass playing could be heard, but the "roots music" behind bluegrass had its influence, too, and melodic riffs from Celtic fiddle jigs can be distinguished. There was also early rock, contemporary blues, country and western , and jazz to be heard in Garcia's style. He was ranked 13th in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" cover story in 2003. His famous “Wolf” guitar could be identified by the wolf emblem on the body of the guitar. It has been said that the JJJ Special Harmonics Extender Boost Pedal “gives the feel” of this famous guitar. It sold for $1.9 million at an auction in 2017.

The biggest thing I learned from Jerry [Garcia]. He taught me subtlety, the emotional power of a quiet phrase. I saw Dead show at the Hartford Civic Center in 1982 that was a life-changing event for me. I had seen them before but was too busy talking to people and not getting into it. But at this show, I went off by by myself. It completely changed my perception of what was possible. The entire time, I was completely tuned in to what Jerry was playing. The whole thing had a logical form to it, and it was just heart-wrenchingly beautiful. I always thought an arena show meant ‘entertainment,’ but after that, I realized that it could be such an emotional event.
